Well here is some great film footage of the Kidda
Band which stretches through the lifetime of the band, from the early days
rehearsing, through TV and record releases and up until quite late into
their career when they continued to be a cracking live act.
Constantly looking for new clips we will just keep
adding to this page as we find them.....so keep checking back for more in
the future.
Enjoy watching our videos here.
The Kidda Band
- Saturday Night Fever
Featuring The Ambulance Hut
A great clip of the band rehearsing in the early
days. The band used to rehearse in an old St. Johns Ambulance Service hut
near to where they all lived in Camp Hill. It was great, some weeks they
would find skeletons and all sorts of weird things in the cupboards. It was
a great place to rehearse because it was in the middle of nowhere, so they
could play as loud as they liked, and it was really cheap to hire.
Saturday Night Fever went on to become on of two songs on the 1979
double A side single alongside Fighting my way back.
The Kicks
- If Looks Could Kill
Well here is some fantastic TV coverage of the band
playing the "If looks could kill" single on TV in the UK. TV Producer
Muriel Young loved the band and kept wanting the band to appear on her shows
whenever they had a single out....and they were happy to oblige. The funny
thing about this particular clip is that Alan's mother didn't speak to him
for over a year because he wore a hat on TV and brought shame on her...!!
Who would have parents eh!!
The Kicks
- Get off the telephone
Well here is more fantastic TV coverage of the band
playing the 1980 Get off the Telephone single. Muriel Young rolled
out the fake Telephone box and stuck one of the dancers in there while Alan
banged on the window every few seconds. Eat your heart out MTV.
Everyone looks like they could do with a good meal
and a quick bath - very rock n' roll..
The Kidda Band
- Fighting My Way Back
Well here is more TV coverage of the band playing
Fighting My Way Back from the 1979 double A side single (alongside
Saturday Night Fever). Good to see Johnny miss the guitar intro from the
start but he recovered well!!
This was the bands first TV appearance and it
shows, with Alan in particular looking a little nervous throughout.
The Kicks
- I wouldn't treat a dog like you treat me
Well here is some interesting footage of the band
being filmed at a college in London (If only we still had the name) by media
students who wanted a different type of subject to practice on. Keith, the
bass player, new on of the tutors and he agreed to bring the band along in
return for some free footage to take away.
The quality on this clip isn't great but the
transfer is being done over and over again in order to get a better quality
film for you all to see. There were more songs recorded at the same session
and these may appear at a later date once the conversion process is
improved. "I wouldn't treat a dog like you treat me" was the final
single from the band.
The Kicks
- (I'm gonna) Join the army
Well this is a strange one. Kidder took some spare
footage from the "I wouldn't treat a dog like you treat me" session
and mixed it in with some old war movie footage in order to put together a
bit of film to accompany "(I'm gonna) Join the army" on the
unreleased tracks from the band that is likely to appear on the next
album.
