The Kidda Band
were a phenomenal live act at the time, playing over 200 shows a year during
their formative years. These shots were taken at Aston University in April 1979 by a Photography Student (His name is lost in the greyness of time) whilst the band are in mid song during a cracking set they played supporting Radio Stars. On the right Les Rollason (Bass) punches out the rhythm while his brother Johnny Rollason (Guitar) drives the band along. On the left Kidder (Vocals & Percussion) thrashes his trademark tambourine at the same show and later sings backing vocals while Johnny again drives things along on rhythm guitar. Read the live review that appeared in the Birmingham SUN of the show here. |

Les
and Kidder seen here (Left) performing at The Bounty in Hinckley -
one of the popular venues in their local area and which got packed to the
rafters every time the band played there. On the right Alan Hammonds (Lead Vocals and songwriter) sings his heart out into his trademark black and white microphone stand. In the background can be seen Ray "The thing is..." Harbourne from the road crew. Les Rollason (Bass) can be seen over Alan's right shoulder. |

Graham "Dick"
Millington (Drums and endless stream of jokes), seen here on the left,
performing beneath the bands trademark Union Jack at the Cherry Tree in Nuneaton -
one of the bands favourite venues in their early days. The band regularly packed out
this intimate venue,
with all those heaving sweaty bodies the band loved the place - and the owner loved
the band, because he took a fortune behind the bar!! Fans often passed out in the heat of the show and were passed to the front and out of the fire exit to the left of the band. Great nights........ |

Alan and Johnny
seen here on the Right in one of the photographs from the bands first
self produced publicity material. Kidder and Les on the left pose in another photograph from the same publicity material. The photographs were taken on Kidders cheap and cheerful camera and somehow it shows. They were taken during a band holiday to Newquay in Cornwall from 16-23 July 1977. |
