The Kidda Band -The studio

The Kidda Band

1 March 1978

The first ever Kidda Band studio session happened on 1st March 1978. The session recorded just two songs, Everybody Knows and No Nerve which were destined to be the A and B sides of the bands first single.

The band now featured the most regular line up with Alan Hammonds on Vocals, Kidder Hammonds on second vocals, Les Rollason on bass guitar, Dave Lister on lead guitar, John Rollason on rhythm guitar and Graham "Dick" Millington on drums.

The only photos of the event (see left) were taken on Alans old Polaroid camera - even this fact couldn't cover up Dave's poor attempt at looking like he was doing something creative on the mixing desk. The other shot shows Alan during the recording of the vocal track.

It is a pity that the single didn't have someone who did know what they were doing with a mixing desk as the band were highly critical of the results achieved at this session.

11 May 1978

The second Kidda Band studio session happened in May 1978. The session was arranged in order to remix Everybody Knows and No Nerve, the A and B sides of the bands first single, in order to try and rescue the recordings from the previous sessions.

Despite their best interventions the band were still unhappy with the finished product.

The only photos of the event (see left) were again taken on Alans old Polaroid camera, and this shot shows both Alan and Kidder under-whelmed with the sound being mixed down around them. Not much of a birthday present for Kidder who was 20 the day before.
