The Kicks & We're Only Human

The Kicks grew out of the Kidda Band during 198?.

Dave Lister (Lead Guitar), Graham "Dick" Millingon (Drums) and Paul Gradner (Drums) all left the band prior to the band moving South to London.

They were replaced by Mick Rollason (lead Guitar - and yet another brother) and Mark "Tarky" Bates (Drums). Although not performing, Kidder continued to be involved in a management/production capacity.

The Kicks released two 45s, Get off the Telephone and If Looks Could Kill in 1980 and 1981 respectively. They also appeared on National TV to promote both singles.

The band continued to perform extensively live - up to 200 shows a year at this time - and to great reviews, only commercial success and the right record company eluded them.

These pictures were taken by Kidder outside of the house they shared in Howard Mews in Highbury, North London. A bit like The Monkees eh?

We're Only Human grew out of  The Kicks during 198?.

Both Mick and Les Rollason left the band and headed home to the Midlands while the rest remained in London to be joined by Keith Taylor on bass, with Johnny handling both rhythm and lead guitar.

We're Only Human released only one 45, Hold My Head up High in 198?. They continued to be a big draw on the live circuit. Read live reviews from 1982 and 1983 here.

Once again a phenomenal live act who continued playing songs they loved without any real desire for commercial acceptance or success.
